Tracing to improve poor motor control

A special education teacher was telling me about a student who had poor motor control.  On a Notebook page, she locked a star at the bottom left and top right of the screen and then connected them with a straight line.  The student had to trace the line and move from one star to the other.  It got him to focus on moving up to the right and it stretched his body at the same time.  He was very excited about this challenge.

If your students have trouble grasping a pen, try using a tennis ball to move things around on the SMART Board.    It is outstanding for special needs students.  Give it a try.
