Math Shapes and Equations

April 27, 2016

Since Notebook 15.1, you have had the ability to divide circles, squares and rectangles and then compare eighths to quarters, halves to sixths etc. Students can see how big a pizza slice would be if the pie was divided it into enough for a slice for each member of the class.  Then they might decide that they should order five pies for their next party!

The equation editor, which is found when you click on the puzzle piece in the toolbar and click on the Epsilon icon, recognizes the handwriting of a math equation as text.

It is great to see more math features popping up in Notebook!

Now, in the drop down menu of selected shapes, SMART has added the ability to show interior angles and side lengths and if you display the vertices, you can watch the angle and sides length values change as the nodes are dragged.

You might notice that the ruler found when you select the measurement tools icon, measures the side lengths with the same value as they are displayed.
